The road to wellness is not narrow or fixed; there are many avenues and alternative trajectories to explore. The more open-minded we can be about the journey to better health, the more receptive we are to what can benefit us in the long term.
The longer we can hold onto our health, the longer we can make the most of feeling youthful and getting the most out of life. Our bodies are powerful at regenerating, something that we often underestimate is the body’s ability to heal and retain its strength when we support it in the right way.
There are many ways that we can support our body better when we decide to make that journey to well being then we really can open up a whole new world for ourselves or way of life at the very least. Here are some ways that you can encourage better health, balance, and anti-aging!
EAT WELL AND STAY HYDRATED
You inevitably become what you eat. Eating a plant-based diet or one that is high in its quota of fresh fruit and veg is probably one of the best ways to support your body. They contain vital phytonutrients/phytochemicals that help to combat damaging free radicals in the body and can provide protection from certain diseases such as heart disease and other degenerative conditions. Generally speaking, the darker the color of the fruit/veg- the more phytonutrients it may contain. You may think that you are eating enough fruit and veg but quite an alarming figure is that perhaps only 15% of adults may be consuming the recommended amounts daily! Hydration is also a key component to feeling and looking better- aim to drink 6-8 tall glasses of water per day as a minimum.
WORK YOUR BODY
The more you move, the better you feel. Exercise releases all the feel-good hormones that may decline with age. Staying active can potentially add up to 10 years on your life span… that’s pretty amazing! Think about it this way…We don’t get old with age, we get old when we stop doing all the things that we love to do. Think about how you love to move, maybe it's dancing, hitting the gym, or something more low impact like walking or gardening… whatever it is, make a promise to your self to keep doing it. As well as the many physical benefits of activity, regular exercise helps to keep us switched on mentally, helping to improve cognition and brain function. And it's also a great way to clear stagnant emotions and cleanse your spirit of anything that you feel is weighing you down.
